Undergraduate, Graduate and Young Professional Congressional Internships - District 30
Working as a congressional intern in Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson's office allows young professionals to gain valuable experience and knowledge. Both full and part-time unpaid internships are available for the Summer, Fall and Spring semesters in both the Washington D.C. and Dallas offices.

Hello Glen Oaks residents! The fall season is upon us. This means kids returning to school, cooler weather, leaves turning colors and resuming the Glen Oaks - Home Owner Association Meetings. The meetings are held at Mark Twain Leadership Vanguard, the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm. The address is 724 Green Cove Ln. Please join us as we discuss important issues and concerns for the Glen Oaks subdivision and community, as a whole. The Glen Oaks HOA works diligently to ensure that we live in a safe community, as well as preserve the beauty and value of our homes. Do you realize that a home is the single most expensive purchase an individual or family makes? Do you realize that the homeowners determine the value and reputation of their neighborhood? Do your actions contribute to the upkeep or demise of your community? If you are not sure, please refer to the checklist below, for an honest self-evaluation of you and your property. This is not an exhaustive list but some of the most frequent occurrences and easily remedied.
· Do you have junk cars?
· Is your yard maintained regularly, hedges and trees trimmed (especially those over your neighbor’s property, sidewalks and alleys)?
· Are your animals secured?
· Do you have frequent loud music / noise and people loitering on your property?
· Do you have trash / junk on your property?
· Do you rake your leaves? Also do you rake the leaves that fall on your neighbor’s property, if they are from your trees? It’s just a little extra exercise :)
· Is your fence an eyesore?
· Is your home in need of repairs / paint?
· Do you have broken windows?
· Do you attend the HOA meetings? We need you! Your voice matters.
We recognize this is a hot topic and difficult to discuss. We also recognize there are situations where illness, physical limitations and finances interfere with the upkeep of our homes. Please call 211 to inquire about services or organizations that provide assistance during your time of need. If none are available, try reaching out to family & friends, church members or neighbors. It may yield some temporary assistance. Please be cognizant that each family’s actions can either positively or negatively affect their neighbors. Property values are not determined independently, rather by the neighborhood as a unit. Maintaining value in the community is a collective effort. Finally, think of your home and community as one of your largest and most important investments, after all it is.
